How to Register for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) with Interactive Brokers

To enhance the security of your account, follow these steps to register for two-factor authentication using the IBKR Mobile app.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Download the IBKR Mobile app from your phone’s app store
    ​

  2. Open the app and tap "I have an account" at the bottom of the screen
    ​

  3. Do not sign in

  4. At the bottom of the screen again, tap "Register Two-Factor"
    ​

  5. Tap Continue

Authenticate with an App

  1. When prompted, enter the security code from your authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator)
    ​

Add Your Phone Number

  1. Enter your mobile phone number

    • Make sure to select Australia as your country

    • Format your number as +61XXXXXXXXX
      ​

Activate Two-Factor

  1. You’ll receive an activation code via SMS
    ​

  2. Enter the code and press Continue

  3. Once activated, press Done
