If your EasyTrade request has been rejected due to insufficient funds, you’ll first need to check how much cash you have available to invest, then adjust and resubmit your EasyTrade accordingly.

This guide will show you how to:

  • Check your available funds in Trader Workstation (TWS)

  • Understand what the AUD Cash figure means

  • Resubmit your Easy Trade with an appropriate order size

1. Open your account in Trader Workstation

  1. Open the Trader Workstation (TWS) desktop app.

  2. Log in using your Interactive Brokers account credentials.

💡 You can also access this information via IB’s Account Management portal by going to interactivebrokers.com.au and logging in, but in this example, we’ll use the desktop platform.

2. Go to your portfolio view

  1. From the home screen in TWS, locate the Monitor window.

  2. Click on Portfolio within the Monitor section.

You’ll now see a full rundown of your account, including the positions and balances held in that account.

3. Maximise the portfolio window

  1. If the portfolio window is small, click to maximise it so you can clearly see all details.

  2. Review the list of current trades/positions in the account.

This view provides a detailed snapshot of everything currently held in your account.

4. Find your available cash (AUD Cash)

  1. In the portfolio view, look towards the bottom area of the window.

  2. Locate the line labelled “AUD Cash” (or similar cash balance field).

For example, you might see:

AUD Cash: 12,394

This means your account has $12,394 AUD available to be spent on new trades.

5. Match your EasyTrade size to your available funds

Now that you know how much cash you have spare:

  1. Make sure your EasyTrade order size does not exceed your available AUD Cash.

    • In the example above, your Easy Trade should be $12,394 or less.

  2. If your previous EasyTrade request was larger than this amount, reduce the order size so it fits within your available cash.

Note: How to add more funds

6. Resubmit your EasyTrade

  1. Return to your Easy Trade submission screen.

  2. Enter a new order size that is:

    • Within your available AUD Cash, and

    • Aligned with the trade recommendation you’re following.

  3. Submit your Easy Trade again.

If your order size is now within your available funds, your Easy Trade should be accepted.
